Laparoscopic Extended Left Hepatectomy

This case was presented at the Korean society of endo-laparoscopic surgeons conference 2024.

The video illustrates a 31-year-old Malay female from Singapore with a history of a biliary cystadenoma, which was trans-abdominally drained in 2016. She presented with recurrent abdominal discomfort, and radiologic evaluation revealed a multiloculated segment IV cyst.

Dr Thng and his team performed a laparoscopic extended left hepatectomy. The surgical steps included mobilizing the liver, pedicular dissection with clipping and clamping key structures, using intra-operative ultrasound for transection line demarcation, parenchymal transection, and extraction of the specimen.
